Our Board of Directors

Chairman

Gary Hennessy

Gary, along with his wife Lesley, ran GARYS BAZAAR, a second hand recycling business until they decided to close in October 2025. As a result of an approach from Second Chances, GARYS BAZAAR and SC were folded into one entity in the new Second Chances Community Hub at 39 O'Sullivan Beach Rd Lonsdale.

He was also previously a Councillor and Deputy Mayor with the City of Onkaparinga and ran his own Real Estate business for a number of years.

Like SCSA, he has a passion for giving people and household goods a "second chance."
When asked what he would like to see happen, he responded with a list:-

More people volunteering a little time each week to help spread the workload
A committed group donating on a regular basis to help cover the cost of Outreach and Ministry
Donations towards the proposed Community Hub development - more about that later
An opportunity to speak to groups and Churches about the work of Second Chances
Prayerful consideration of assuming a role on our Board
The prayers of the Saints for protection and blessing on our works

Vice Chair

Leslie Dennis

Through his extensive membership in service organisations, he brings many connections for ongoing support for Second Chances SA.
Treasurer

Peter Charitopoulos

I have been Blessed to recently join the Board of Second Chances. I’m married to my amazing wife, Vanessa, of 24 years, and we have 4 Children (one being our son n law)

Coming to Faith in 2014, God revealed to me, my purpose (which applies to all of us); being to instil Hope to all people, Love on them, and to give them direction in life, and we do this by introducing them to Jesus, Our Lord and Saviour.

I am Blessed to own several family businesses, which are vessels to point to Jesus, create opportunity and employment, and to help people, wherever possible.

I’ve joined the Second Chanced Board, with Lived and Life Experience in the areas, supported by Second Chances, and now as a recent Board member, I am able to maximise the reach and impact, in meeting Individuals and Community's needs, while allowing God's Love to Work in and through Us.

I’m a strong believer in that, we’re called to do the Natural, whilst allowing and expecting God will do the Supernatural!
